Increased capacity to meet demand for new wooden pallets
Whirlowdale expand new pallet production
Whirlowdale Trading Company Ltd has doubled its new pallet production site in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
Whirlowdale has taken on an additional unit within the existing site to further expand its facilities to produce and store new wooden pallets. Whirlowdale first opened a production unit in Uttoxeter in September 2000. This unit now produces in excess of 50,000 pallets each month – a figure that has inspired the opening of a second unit.
The new unit has the capacity to produce a further 50,000 pallets, doubling the new pallet business and further emphasising Whirlowdale’s capability to produce new wooden pallets for large blue chip accounts.
The compressor installation was carried out during May 2010, whilst production started earlier this month (June 2010). Whirlowdale hope the have the unit operating at full capacity within the next few months. The new unit coincides with Whirlowdale acquiring additional sites to service an existing large account, and forms the basis of the production schedule at the new production site.
The additional production facility has enabled Whirlowdale to produce a variety of bespoke new wooden pallets – pallets which vary in size, specifications and pallets for different industry sectors. Whilst the focus at the site is predominantly pallets for the building trade, the unit has the capacity and equipment to produce pallets of any specification, for any market.
